Poetry Workshops Endorsements

Charlie worked with both our year six classes for a number of weeks and provided them with a stimulating, enjoyable and creative experience! His easy, friendly style and skilful manner ensured that the children responded well and produced a range of poetry which was excellent. We’re looking forward to him working with us again this year!

Tom Stewart, Principal, Stranmillis Primary School, Belfast.

Charlie,

The children enjoyed your workshops, had a lot of fun, laughed a lot, and presented poetry which I never thought they were capable of. Many thanks,

John Mc Caffrey, Poetry in Motion Coordinator, St. Mary’s Primary School, Belfast.

Charlie’s poetry sessions with my P6/7 class were fun, entertaining, enjoyable and interactive.

Alison Oliver, P6/7 teacher, Springfield Primary School, Belfast.

The poetry workshop encouraged the children to think about language and not to be afraid of poetry. It assisted their confidence to write. It was good and would encourage me to teach more poetry in the classroom.

Jayne Jackson. Year 9. The Royal School, Dungannon.

They (the children) were interested throughout and keen to participate. The experience was lively, dynamic and entertaining; and produced some very good work from the pupils.

J. Graham, Year 9. The Royal School, Dungannon.

In answer to the question, "Did the poetry workshops meet your aims and objectives?" - Absolutely-This particular Year 8 group were quite nervous about composing their own poems. This session has certainly helped break down some of these barriers.

"Did the students have the pportunity to participate and discuss their ideas?" - Mr. graham encouraged participation from willing students on a number of occasions-both orally and via their own contributions and creative input.

Poems were both accessible and relevent to this age group. They can certainly be applied to the classroom in the future.
